On May 13, 2008, Keystone SMILES proudly established the Michael Andrew Renfrew Memorial Preschool Scholarship.
Michael was the 4-year old son of Randall and Lisa Renfrew, a Keystone SMILES AmeriCorps Alumni. Michael was killed in a tragic accident on the family farm on April 1, 2001. The fund will be used to annually award scholarships to preschool students who might not otherwise have the opportunity to attend a preschool program. SMILES Youth Corps (SYC)

By creatively using limited resources, SYC hopes to instill the benefit of serving others in the youth we serve. This program should enable the youth to realize that one person or a small group can make a big difference not only in the community, but inside of one another as well.

With a focus on environmental and outdoor education, SYC provided 10-16 year olds with an opportunity to up to 3 Camps in the summer of 2007.  Students may select Stream, Forest or Field or may attend any combination of the 3.  Students displaying excellent behavior, dedication to service, regular attendance, and a positive attitude will be invited to participate in an "Invitation Only" Camping Trip at the conclusion of the summer.

Keystone SMILES Youth Racing (KSYR)

Keystone SMILES’ Youth Racing Team seeks to reduce the number of vehicle-related teen deaths by implementing innovative safe driving programs for children, teens, and adults.
According to information presented by the National Safety Council in 2005, traffic accidents account for 44% of teen deaths in the United States.
In today’s society, youth are bombarded with images of unsafe driving through various types of entertainment media. They are desensitized to the risks and consequences associated with reckless driving. Keystone SMILES’ Youth Racing Team is making efforts to expose children to safe driving practices at an early age through age appropriate driving education and experiences.
