The heroic and unselfish act of Ross McGinnis has touched the lives of many people in Clarion County and neighboring communities. Ross’ patriotism and sacrifice earned him a Purple Heart, Silver Star for Valor and has also been recommended for the Nation’s highest honor: The Congressional Medal of Honor.  Another tribute to his valor occurred on Wednesday, December 13th, 2006 when a Keystone SMILES AmeriCorps Alum chose to contribute to Ross’ legacy, which can now live on through other service focused deeds of individuals. The Alum’s donation of $5000 established the beginning of a memorial endowment fund.    The first Scholarships were awarded in December of 2007.

The second annual Ross McGinnis scholarship will be awarded in December 2008.
