Youth Backpack Program

In 2017 Keystone SMILES began a backpack program for their Alternative Education and Preschool students. BackPack program provides children who express a need with nutritious, easy-to-prepare food at times when other resources are not available. The concept is simple: children at risk of weekend hunger receive a bag of food that is child-friendly, nutritious, nonperishable and easy to eat.

All funds go toward food purchases and would only be distributed to students within our education programs. During our first year we were able to send home 163 bags to 15 students in need.
